Technical Innovations Advance Gene Expression Profiling

Small-Volume RNA-seq and Improved SMART-Seq® v4 Workflow

Inferring the gene expression status of patients' tumors via analysis of the residual tumor material is often challenged by the small quantities of tumor cells or tissues available. However, recent technological advances in cDNA synthesis, whole transcriptome amplification, and library construction make it possible to routinely analyze transcriptomes from pictogram quantities of input RNA.

At Q2 Solutions we are constantly looking for new ways to improve the methods we utilize in our lab. In this insight brief, learn how we recently modified the conventional SMART-Seq protocol, which led to an improved strategy for expression profiling via RNA sequencing from limiting amounts of RNA. This allows us to gain insights into the status of biomarker genes and to evaluate their significance in treatment strategies for patients.
